My Field Visit to IFS: A Glimpse into a Leading Enterprise Software Company

On April 4th, I had the privilege of visiting IFS, a global enterprise software company that specializes in providing ERP, EAM, and FSM solutions to businesses of all sizes and industries. During my visit, I had the opportunity to gain insight into what sets them apart from other companies in the industry.

Our field visit to IFS was made possible thanks to the support of Mr Samitha Vidhanaarachchi, a lecturer from SLIIT who accompanied us. I am grateful to him for his contribution in making the visit a success.

IFS introductory session

During the introductory session, I also learned about the different products and services that IFS offers. From enterprise resource planning (ERP) to field service management (FSM), their solutions cater to a wide range of industries and business needs. It was impressive to see how they integrate cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to make their products more effective and efficient.

In addition to their product offerings, I was also impressed by IFS's commitment to diversity and inclusion. This was evident in their workforce and the way they interacted with each other. I appreciated the emphasis that they placed on creating a positive work environment for their employees.

After the session, IFS treated us to a delicious lunch and tea, which was a nice gesture and greatly appreciated. It was also a great opportunity to network and chat with the IFS team and fellow visitors.

One of the highlights of the visit for me was the chance to learn more about DevOps from industry experts. I am currently interested in DevOps, so it was a great opportunity to gain more knowledge in this area. Mr Buddika Hiripitiyage, Senior Director of Software Engineering, and Mr Sanka Basnayake, Director of Software Engineering, graciously provided me with more information related to DevOps, and I appreciated their contribution. The discussion was very informative and interesting, and I learned a lot about how IFS incorporates DevOps practices into their development process.
